Trusty Vet is a full-service veterinary medical facility, located in Huntsville, AL. The professional and courteous staff at Trusty Vet seeks to provide the best possible medical care, surgical care and dental care for their highly-valued patients. Our hospital has advanced equipment and technologies, including comprehensive in-house testing for accurate diagnosis, digital x-ray, surgical suite, dental equipment, and a full pharmacy. We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care and health-related educational opportunities for our clients at every stage of your pet's life. From routine preventive care to early detection and treatment of a wide range of conditions and diseases, we have the expertise to provide the highest standard of care for your pet. We also serve Decatur, Athens, Hartselle, Anniston, Guntersville, and Scottsboro areas.

  • Kathryn Bradshaw, DVM

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Kathryn Bradshaw, DVM has eagerly adopted the philosophy established by Trusty Vet and is excited to be an owner of Trusty Vet. Dr. Bradshaw received her DVM degree in 2006 from Kansas State University while her husband served in the US Army at Fort Riley. She previously, attended Texas A&M University where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biomedical Science. Upon graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Bradshaw became an associate veterinarian at a small animal hospital in Madison, Al. Prior to the opening of Trusty Vet Research Park, she practiced for five years as an associate veterinarian at Valley Animal Hospital & Pet Resort in southeast Huntsville.

    Dr. Bradshaw has served as past-president for the Madison County Veterinary Medical Association. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and is a former member of the Huntsville chapter of Executive Women International. She is an active member in the North Alabama Texas A&M Alumni club. She participates in her church choir and assists with elementary children music time during Sunday School. Her hobbies include traveling, cooking, hiking, watching SEC football, specifically the Texas Aggies, and spending time with her family and friends.

    Dr. Bradshaw shares her home with her husband, and her two young sons, Benjamin and Barrett. She also owns a dachshund- Sbisa, a Labrador- Dixie Bell, a Black and Tan mix- Rollie, and two cats – Kismet & Mr. Whiskers.

  • Caroline Mefford, DVM

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Caroline Mefford is a Huntsville native. While she has always had a love for animals, it wasn’t until her yellow Labrador Retriever, Daisy, came into her life that she was truly inspired to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Caroline graduated with honors with a bachelor of science in biology from Samford University in 2016. She completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Auburn University in 2020. Dr. Mefford completed an externship at the San Antonio Zoo where she got to work closely with her favorite animal, the elephant. She also worked at the Southeastern Raptor Center where she helped rehabilitate injured raptors as well as care for the Auburn Eagle, and she completed an internship in the burrough of Harlem in New York City. Dr. Mefford is very excited to be an associate veterinarian at Trusty Vet. Her special interests include cardiology, surgery, and cultivating client and patient relationships. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cheering on the Crimson Tide and Dallas Cowboys, traveling, and being a crazy cat mom to Poppy, Violet, and Vincent.

  • Laura Jackson, DVM

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Laura Jackson grew up in Madison, AL and made the decision to become a veterinarian at a young age due to a love of animals and science. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2007 with a B.S. in zoology. She then received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University in 2011. Her first job after graduating veterinary school was in St. Clairsville, OH at a busy animal hospital where she saw both routine appointments and emergency cases. She and her husband then moved to northern Virginia, and she worked at a suburban small animal clinic. After a few years, they decided to move back to Ohio, and Dr. Jackson worked at a clinic in Columbus seeing dogs and cats. She and her family have returned to the Madison area, and Dr. Jackson is thrilled to be part of the Trusty Vet team. She enjoys forming long term relationships with clients and helping their pets to have happy and healthy lives.
    Dr. Jackson lives with her husband, Kenneth, their daughter, Bailey, and their dog, Barkley, who is a pit bull/boxer mix. She enjoys the outdoors and is an avid runner. She also loves spending time with her family and friends, drinking coffee, traveling, and oil painting.

  • Heather Stevens

    Hospital Manager

    Heather has always had a love for animals and medicine ever since she was a little
    girl. She began working in the field of veterinary medicine in 2005 as a receptionist.
    After taking a break from work to raise her growing family, Heather re-entered the
    world of veterinary medicine in 2012 as a receptionist. She took every opportunity to
    watch and help with pet care while working towards her goal of becoming a
    veterinary technician. Heather joined the team at Trusty Vet as a veterinary assistant
    in October 2015. She enjoys educating pet owners on parasite prevention products,
    the importance of regular vaccination schedules, and anything involving surgery. In
    the last 5 years, Heather became more involved on the business side of Trusty Vet,
    starting as inventory manager and has now worked her way up as our new Hospital
    Manager.

    In her free time, Heather spends time with her family including her loving parents
    Steve and Melinda, and her two beautiful daughters, Hannah and Ava, going out to
    the lake to fish or to camp. She also has one dog, Rhea, a German Shepherd and one
    cat, Maximus. She enjoys spoiling all of them and supplying them excellent veterinary
    care.
